Houses in multiple occupation licence renewals
You need to renew your licence every five years at least one month before it is due to expire.
If the licence has expired or you have made significant changes, such as a change in the number of licensed bedrooms or licence holder then you will need to fill out a new application form instead of a renewal.
Renewal applications
Before you apply to renew your licence, you will need copies of the:
- electrical installation condition report
- gas safety certificate (if applicable)
- fit and proper person form completed by the manager
- fit and proper person form completed by the proposed licence holder
Before renewing you will also need to inform all interested parties:
- the freeholder
- any leaseholders
- any mortgagee
- any tenant who has a tenancy for at least three years
- the proposed licence holder (if that is not you)
- the proposed managing agent (if that is not you)
- any person who has agreed to be bound by a licence condition
What happens next
Once we receive your application, it will be processed by our Housing Standards Team, the premises may be inspected and if we have everything we need, you will receive a licence proposal giving you 14 days to make representations before the licence decision is made.
Cost
The renewal application fee is £720. For accredited landlords, it’s £700.
