Dear Mr Newington

AIR QUALITY GRANT 2011/12

Application Ref Number:   1522011

Thank you for your Air Quality Grant application for capital expenditure to support air quality action planning under Part IV of the Environment Act 1995. This grant is made under the Air Quality Grant Determination 2011/12: No 31/1939 [1].

The total amount of applications has significantly exceeded the Department’s provision. Applications have been assessed against the priorities and criteria set out on the website[2] and awards made on the basis of how highly they scored.

Following evaluation of your bid, I am pleased to be able to inform you that it is the Department’s intention to award your authority an air quality grant in 2011/12 of £40,000.

  • Ref No: 1522011 – fully funded – original bid was for £40,000.

The award of this grant is subject to Defra receiving and approving a completed Project Plan using the template provided at Annex B to this letter. Defra reserve the right if your Project Plan is not approved, to decline the funding. In addition the air quality grant is subject to terms and conditions[3]. These terms and conditions together with the completed Project Plan will form a completed Grant Agreement to be signed by both parties.

I would be grateful for confirmation by email, by noon on 12 September 2011 that your authority accepts the amount of grant to be awarded and the terms and conditions which apply, and include with your confirmation the completed Project Plan in electronic format. Further information on the process and timetable is available in Annex A to this letter.

Once we have received and countersigned the grant agreement containing an approved Project Plan we will make arrangements to pay the grant to your authority’s bank account. If your authority requires payment of the grant to a particular account please provide full bank account details in your letter confirming your authority’s acceptance of the grant offer.

Should you no longer wish to receive the grant or should there be any issues with the terms and conditions, please contact us within 10 days of receipt of this letter. Should you have any questions about the proposed scope of the project, for example if we have not been able to award you the full funding for your proposed project, please get in touch.

Yours sincerely
