Equine schedule of horses
You may only hire out a horse if it is listed on your licence schedule. If a horse is not listed, it must not be used. Using an unlisted horse will breach your licence conditions and invalidate your insurance.
You must request a change to the schedule if a horse:
- is returning to work after rest or recovery
- is new and being added for use in the activity
- is withdrawn by a vet
- has died
Costs
We will charge £50 per request. The costs cover the time spent by our officers handling the request and the new certificate.
Request a schedule change
We will need to know:
- the licence number
- details about the licence holder
- information about the premises
- the purpose for keeping the horse
You also need to provide details about the horse, including the horse's:
- name
- colour
- height
- sex
- age
- passport number
- microchip number
We may request documents from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). This may be a:
- RCVS statement of fitness to return to work form signed by your vet (if a horse is returning to work after rest or recovery)
- RCVS withdrawal of horse form signed by your vet (if a horse is injured, sick or has died)
- RCVS new horse form, signed by your vet to declare the horse fit for work
What happens next
We will contact you within ten working days of receiving your application to explain the next steps.
