"It is with great sadness that Maidstone Borough Council has learnt of the death of Brian Mortimer former Liberal Democrat Councillor for Coxheath and Mayor of Maidstone.
All who knew and worked with Brian will I’m sure have – like me - many memories full of Brian’s joyful time as Mayor and his stoicism as he continued to represent his constituents through a period of challenging ill-health until May 2018.
Our thoughts are with his wife Dianne and all of the family at this sad time."
