What is the Residents Parking Scheme?

permit5

A Residents Parking Scheme is a way in which parking within a defined area is limited to residents and employees of businesses of that scheme area and their visitors. These areas are clearly marked with signs to inform drivers of the restrictions and regularly patrolled by the Civil Enforcement Officers to protect the integrity of the scheme for its residents. Schemes are only introduced where there is a clear need for restricting parking in an area to residents, employees of local businesess and their visitors and following consultation and where a majority are in favour of a scheme.

Who can apply for a permit?

  • Only residents within a scheme area
  • Only employees of local businesses within a scheme area.
  • A resident located within a scheme area may also apply for a visitors permit if eligible and the number of permits you may apply for can depend on which zone you live within and your type or residential dwelling.
  • Residents living within zones where visitors permits are available and are entitled to them, please note only one visitors permit can be issued each year
  • The Permit Information Centre and the Residents Parking Scheme Zones section of this page contains all relevant information of who is eligible for a permit and whether your property is within the zone boundaries.
