News Release
Comments on KIG Appeal get a further six
weeks
The Planning Inspectorate has extended the
period for people to send comments to them on the Kent
International Gateway appeal until May 29, 2009.
When the appeal was validated by the Planning
Inspectorate on February 23 Maidstone Borough Council
was given six weeks until April 6 to submit a written
statement setting out its case to the Planning Inspectorate.
This has now been extended by six weeks until
May 29, 2009. The Planning Inspectorate has also extended the
deadline for comments for all statutory and other consultees and
any other interested parties and local residents until May 29,
2009.
All responses that have been made on the
application up to now have already been forwarded to the Planning
Inspectorate and the appellant. Any further comments need to be
submitted directly to the Planning Inspectorate by sending three
copies, quoting the appeal reference number APP/U2235/A/09/2096565,
to ROOM 4/04 KITE, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple
Quay, Bristol. BS1 6PN. Responses must arrive by no later
than May 29, 2009.
There is no need to send copies to the council
as it will receive the comments from the Planning Inspectorate.
The Council’s Planning Committee will still
formally consider the application to decide how it would have
determined the application and to finalise its Statement of Case.
This will take place before the May 29 deadline and further
publicity as to the date, time and venue for the Planning Committee
meeting will be given shortly, once detailed arrangements have been
finalised.
Director of Prosperity and Regeneration,
Alison Broom, said: “The venue for the planning committee meeting
will be chosen to accommodate as many people as possible to hear
the debate and the meeting will be webcast live on the council’s
website.”
