Tony Hart retrospective exhibition

Maidstone welcomed a long-anticipated retrospective of the work of TV artist and illustrator, Tony Hart this week.

His daughter, Carolyn Williams, selected a stunning series of paintings and drawings that feature alongside the Tony Hart Tribute artwork created by Holly Gerrard, pupil at Invicta Girls’ Grammar School in Maidstone.

The exhibition is being held at the Graham Clarke Gallery at the Hazlitt Arts Centre, Rose Yard, Maidstone until February 26.

At the private view on Wednesday (February 3) Carolyn was joined by the Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Peter Parvin, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, Cllr Brian Moss and Holly Gerrard, who launched the Secret Auction which will give exhibition viewers the opportunity to bid on a selection of Tony’s artworks on display.

The money raised from the sale will be donated to the Gurkha Welfare Trust in memory of Carolyn’s father, a member of the Gurkha Rifles who remained in touch with his Gurkha roots, actively fundraising for soldiers in Nepal throughout his lifetime.

Bidding forms, available throughout the duration of the exhibition, should be submitted by 5pm on February 26. Artworks will have reserved prices set on them. Successful bidders will be notified on Wednesday, March 3.
