Maidstonesdream.co.uk – Bring a medal
home

Maidstone’s potential 2012 athletes are hoping
local businesses will give them the kick start they need to go for
gold.
Maidstonesdream.co.uk,
which is set to go live at the end of April, aims to bring together
Maidstone’s athletes and sports teams with businesses in the
borough.
The campaign is being handled by
Maidstone-based Wonderful Creative Agency.
The site is being funded by Maidstone Borough
Council to help create a legacy from the London 2012 Olympic Games
and promote sporting achievements in the borough.
Athletes and teams will have their profiles on
the site and businesses will have the chance to adopt them with
either a gold, silver or bronze style package. Details of which
will be revealed shortly.
On Maidstonesdream.co.uk
businesses will be able to search for athletes via their sport,
name or even the type of competitions they have entered. The
profiles will be similar to a Facebook profile and will include the
athlete’s details, how often they train, who their heroes are, how
many competitions they have won, why they want to be sponsored and
how they got into their specialised sport. They will be able to
update the profiles themselves.
Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, Cllr
Brian Moss who has allocated £15,000 for maidstonesdream.co.uk is
hoping to create an air of excitement in the lead up to London
2012.
Cllr Moss explained: “We are offering
athletes, teams and businesses in the town the opportunity to be
part of this exciting campaign. Maidstonesdream.co.uk has
been created to help talented athletes achieve the ultimate goal of
being part of Team GB in 2012. Some athletes and teams may only
need a small amount of sponsorship to help them on the way, others
may need more, but maidstonesdream.co.uk is
there to help all our potential sports men and women.”
An ‘opening ceremony’ type event will be
organised to launch the website. More details to follow soon.
