Trees in private gardens

This is a private matter between yourself and your neighbour. The council cannot intervene.

We can not enforce private tree owners to cut back the trees within their own gardens. Also, there are no enforcement laws on trees to make land owners cut back or keep trees a certain height.

We would also advise you to check with Maidstone Borough Council Landscape, Heritage & Conservation department within Planning before either parties carrying out any tree work as the trees may be subject to a Tree Preservation Order.
