South Park is situated about one and a half kilometres south of the town centre.  Follow the Loose Road (A229 to Hastings, bear right into Armstrong Road), which then splits South Park into two parts, the West and South sides and both parts hold many facilities.   It is a neighbourhood park designed by Bunyards of Maidstone and developed from meadowland in 1929.

West Side

On the west side there are two sections, one being a garden area with mature trees, shrubs, bedding plants and a lily pond.  This is an ideal place to have a stroll along the rose avenue or sit awhile on a bench.  In the other section is a skate-park and all-weather sports pitches.  Combined facilities include:

  • Sk8s'n'Bruises skate-park
  •  All weather floodlit Hockey/5-a-side Football pitches - for booking of pitches or clubhouse, e-mail   jjr.monchelsea@googlemail.com
  • Two Tennis Courts - Pay and Play - Open all year
  • Bowls Green - Open from May until September - Come along and play!

South Side

On the south side, apart from housing the Maidstone Hockey Club's clubhouse, other facilities include:

  • Toilets
  • Car Park
  • Childrens' Play Area - suitable for 2 year olds and upwards
  • Football pitches - 1 senior/2 junior
