Snow
During the winter, there is a risk of snow affecting our
services. If we get bad weather we will try our best to maintain
normal services, but please leave your bins out and we will empty
them as soon as possible. Regular updates will be available
on this website, also twitter@maidstonebc and Facebook

Information
Each year, Maidstone households throw away almost 40,000
tonnes of rubbish, of which more than 65% could easily be
recycled.
By simply reducing, reusing and
recycling your waste, you can reduce the strain on natural
resources, reduce the harmful effect on the environment and
reduce the cost of waste disposal.
A third of the food that we buy ends up being thrown
away and we need your help in reducing this, therefore
we introduced weekly kerbside Food
waste collections at the end of January 2011.
We can all make a difference. For more
information on how to recycle certain items, follow the link
to Kent County Council's
A-Z of waste.
Many items including cooking oil and electrical
appliances can now be accepted for recycling at your local
Household Waste Recycling Site.
Community Waste Reduction, Reuse & Recycling Fund
This fund has been designed to help community groups, charitable
organisations and social enterprises to carry out waste reduction,
reuse and recycling events within local communities.
So, if you would like to run a swap shop for unwanted items and
need some funding to hire a venue and advertise your event,
or maybe you would like to set up a community composting area
or if you have any other ideas please download the
information pack.
