Policy and Development
The Housing & Communities Funding section is responsible for
enabling the delivery of quality, decent, new affordable homes,
market research, and reviews and implementation of the Council’s
Housing Strategies and Policies. It also monitors and reports on
performance and statistical information relating to Housing
Services generally.
The Key Business Objectives and responsibilities for the team
are to:
- Produce, review and implement the Housing Strategy,
Homelessness Strategy, Communications Strategy and supplements for
Rural Housing, Key Workers, Older People; Young People, Respect
Agenda, and BME Groups;
- Maximise the delivery of affordable homes through the Council’s
Capital Budget and external sources;
- Lobby the Homes
and Communities Agency for funding and develop the Council’s
relationships with Social Housing providers in order to improve
service provision;
- Engage with Planning in the implementation of the Local
Development Framework;
- Ensure the delivery of new affordable homes and implement the
Affordable Housing Development Plan Document that tackles the
identified housing need.
