Accommodation certificates - fitness for human habitation

This service is provided to individuals requiring a visa application to enter the UK. One of the requirements for a successful visa application is that the local authority has granted an accommodation certificate.

Accommodation certificates are required by the Nationality Directorate of the Home Office and by the British High Commission in the relevant country, for any individuals requiring a visa application to reside in the UK with Relatives, on a permanent or semi permanent basis.

How does this work?

The application is made by the Householder in the United Kingdom. 

Maidstone Borough Council will inspect the property, to ensure that when the applicant comes to the UK the property is not overcrowded, that it is decent and that it is free from serious hazards. If the property is found to be satisfactory in all respects a certificate or equivalent will be provided.

**There is an administrative cost of £60 for this service.**
