Improvements and repairs

The council provides a range of services to
help home owners improve and repair their homes. A brief
description of the services is provided below.
Adapting Homes
'Mandatory Disabled Facilities
Grant'. This is a means-tested grant which can be given
for adapting a home to meet a disabled persons needs.
HandyPerson Service
The borough has three handy persons. This
is to help vulnerable, elderly and disabled persons who need help
in their own homes with repair or safety related tasks. Including
gardening and decorating and is operated by the Home Improvement agency.
Housing Assistance
We currently offer discretionary assistance for
owners and landlords to improve or repair their homes.

Energy Efficiency
We currently offer assistance for insulation, upgrading heating
systems and some renewable energy. For details contact
CEN on 0800 512012.
Heat Seekers
The Mark Group is working with Maidstone Borough Council and the
Energy Saving Partnership to identify homes which may need better
insulation and can save money.
You may therefore see a special HeatSeekers vehicle in your
area or receive a visit from a Mark Group Surveyor this winter
regarding improving the energy efficiency of your property.
