Housing associations and co-ops
Maidstone Borough Council works with a variety of partner
organisations including RSLs (Registered Social Landlords) Housing
Associations and Co-operatives to provide low cost affordable
housing in the borough.
What are Housing Associations and Co-operatives?
Housing Associations are non for profit making organisations
that provide Housing for people who cannot resolve their housing
need in the open market.
Both Housing Associations and Co-operatives are run by a
Committee of Voulnteers elected buy the Tentants. In the case of a
Co-operatives the committe is made up entirely of Tenants, meaning
that the tenants then own and run the Co-operative.
Some Housing Associations and Co-operatives provide housing to
specific client groups such as special needs groups or elderly
people.
All social housing in the borough of Maidstone is let through
Kent Home Choice. To apply for social housing in the borough, you
should apply to our Housing
Register.
