Services for older people

Find information and advice for older people on the
Age UK website.

People are living longer. By 2020, half the population of the UK
will be aged 50 and over. The Government wants to ensure that we
adapt successfully to the fundamental long term changes that this
will bring to society.
The Government and other supporting groups, under the 'Full of
Life' banner, have made UK Older People’s Day the focus of a wide
programme of activity, celebrating later life. UK Older People‟s
Day is on October 1 to coincide with the UN International Day of
Older Persons. This will be the fourth year the Day has been
celebrated in the UK and we hope to build on the successes of
previous years.
The main aim for the Day is to be a national celebration of the
achievements and contributions that older people make to our
society and to the economy, and through this start to tackle
negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes.
