Financial support for carers
If you care for someone, there is a range of financial
benefits available to you and also to the person you care for. Do
not be afraid to ask for help and claim what you are entitled
to.
Carer's Allowance
Carer's Allowance is a taxable benefit for
people who cannot work or have a low income because they are
looking after someone who is ill or disabled. You may be able
to get Carer's Allowance if you spend at least 35 hours a week in
your caring role.
Financial support for the person you care for
There is a wide range of disability-related financial support,
including benefits, tax credits, payments, grants and
concessions.
If the person you care for qualifies for a benefit but is unable
to make a claim themselves, you can claim on their
behalf.
