Recycling Collections - Mixed Dry
Recycling

All homes, except some flats that do not have room for
additional communal recycling bins, have a fortnightly
recycling collection service for paper, cardboard, tins & cans
(including empty aerosols and clean kitchen foil) and
some types of plastics. Most households will have a green wheelie
bin to place these items in, those that do not have room for the
wheelie bins can have black boxes to present recycling
in.
Glass bottles and jars can be recycled by taking them to your
local bottle banks. It is important to separate the different
colours so that they can be recycled into new bottles and jars.
If you are not able to take your glass to the bottle banks,
please put it in your grey rubbish wheelie bin/black sacks where it
will be recycled into road aggregate after
incineration. (Please wrap broken glass before placing in
sacks)

Please do not put glass or plastic bags in your
recycling bin/box.
Information about plastic
recycling
Households have a 190 litre grey wheelie bin for
their rubbish collection and green 240
litre wheelie bins for the fortnightly recycling
collection. Large families can request larger bins
and special arrangements will be made for people who don't have
wheelie bins or space for a second bin.
At the end of January 2011, we introduced
the new collection service for food waste recycling.
To find out your collection day, please enter your postcode in
the 'Living in Maidstone' box to the right of
this column.
If your recycling bin or food waste bin was not collected on the due date, please

ordered or garden sacks purchased.
