Local development framework (LDF)

The Maidstone Borough Council local development framework (LDF) sets out the policies that determine where, when and how development takes places in the borough. All planning proposals that the Borough Council deals with are judged against these policies.

The Spatial Policy team prepares the LDF.

The Maidstone Borough Council Core Strategy consultation is now closed.

The Core Strategy sets the general direction of development in the borough from now until 2026. It deals with homes, jobs, shopping, leisure, environment and transport issues. The Core Strategy also deals with the local services needed to support any new development.

The document does not allocate actual sites but it does identify 'strategic locations' on the Key Diagram, which can be found at the back of the Core Strategy.

The council is now processing the comments received during the consultation period.

You can access the Core Strategy consultation documents from the following links.
