Development control

The purpose of the Development Control is to ensure that development in Maidstone Borough is in accordance with the relevant plans and policies; national, regional and local.

To achieve this we process applications for planning permission and related controls.

You need planning permission for most forms of building work, from consent to alter listed buildings and displaying advertisements to large scale developments.  We also offer an advice service, where we advise on permitted development (that does not require permission), provide certificates of lawful development and offer pre-application advice.
