How to get involved
There are many ways in which you can get in involved in Overview
and Scrutiny in Maidstone.
One of the key aims of all Maidstone Borough Council's Overview
and Scrutiny committees is to involve a wide range of interested
parties, including the local community, and to take their views
into account as part of the review process. You can:
Attend an Overview and Scrutiny meeting
Overview and Scrutiny members at Maidstone council welcome
the attendance of members of the public at their meetings and are
keen to hear the views of as many people as possible.
All Overview and Scrutiny meetings are held in public and anyone
is welcome to attend to listen to the proceedings. The
majority of the meetings are held at the Town Hall, High
Street, Maidstone.
Write to the Overview & Scrutiny Committee or individual
Select Committee
If you have a particular interest in a review you can write to
or e-mail the relevant Select Committees to give your views to
the Councillors. If you do choose to make a contribution to a
review any comments you make will not be made public unless you
have agreed to this.
Become a contributor
One of the main ways in which the Committees gather the
evidence they need to inform their reviews is through inviting
individuals with a particular knowledge of the subject to attend
their meetings as a contributor and provide informed or expert
information. This enables the councillors to make evidence based
recommendations but it also gives individuals and organisations
from outside the council an opportunity to have their
voice heard.
