Councillors, democracy and elections

Maidstone has 55 councillors, elected by local people to
represent their community on the council.
Councillors make decisions about the council services that we
rely on and those that improve our lives such as refuse and
recycling collections, street cleaning, leisure facilities, parks
and open spaces, parking and planning.
They also work with public sector partners as
well as the private, business, community and voluntary sectors so
that different initiatives and services support each other and work
together.
Councillors are there to represent you and to
help you.
