Local Government Act 2002 - Petitions for Elected Mayoral
Referendum
In accordance with the Local Authorities (Referendums) (Petition
& Directions) Regulations 2000 Maidstone Borough Council
has to publish every year the number which is equal to 5 per cent
of the number of local government electors shown in the electoral
register for the Borough of Maidstone for the period ending 15
February 2009.
That number is: 5,751 electors
Should you wish to petition the council to seek a referendum on
whether or not there should be an Elected Mayor, then this is the
minimum number of signatories needed and the petition should be
submitted after 31 March 2009 and before April 1, 2010.
