Equality and Diversity

In order to fulfil its duties under the Equality Act 2010 and as part of its commitment to promoting equality and tackling disadvantage within the Borough, the Council has set three Equality Objectives. These are:

  • Improve the number of visitors to the museum aged 55+ by 5% over the next year. This target is then expected to recur but this will be assessed after the first year.
  • Increase the proportion of men registering for the Healthy Weight Programme from 24% to 28% over the next year, depending on continued funding. Subject to review, targets would then be set for each of the next three years leading to a probable target of 40% by the end of the fourth year.
  • Increase the proportion of people aged 18-24 who feel that the Council keeps people ‘well informed’ or ‘fairly well informed’ about services and benefits to 58% over four years.

For more information about the requirement to set Equality Objectives and the reasons for choosing these objectives, please see the record of the decision made by the Cabinet on 14 March 2012.
