Death - historical searches

There are many ways to begin researching your family history:

  • Talk to older family members and write down what they can remember; or
  • Look through family documents and memorabilia; or
  • Study any certificates that you already have; or
  • Check relevant papers and photographs;

Books and monthly publications relating to Family History can provide useful advice. You can buy these from bookstores and newsagents or borrow them from your local library.

Please note that the Bereavement Services Team at Maidstone Borough Council only have access to records relating to Maidstone Cemetery. Records relating to individual churchyards or burial grounds will be held by the incumbent or Parish Secretary.
