Death - mortuaries

There are different types of Mortuary. Hospital mortuaries will usually only handle the deceased from hospital wards. Public mortuaries usually handle deaths that have been referred to the Coroner. Sometimes a hospital mortuary will be designated to fulfil both roles.

Most mortuaries will have the facility for families to view the deceased in a private area generally known as a chapel of rest. These rooms can be adapted to accommodate different faiths.
