Coroners - sudden death investigations
When a death occurs in the following
circumstances it will be referred to the coroner:
- The death is sudden,
accidental or unexpected; or
- When a doctor is unable to issue
a medical certificate of cause of death because he/she did not
treat the deceased within the 14 days prior to death; or
- The cause of death is due to
industrial accident; or
- The cause of death cannot be
established; or
- There are suspicious circumstances
surrounding the death.
