Sports, Play and Youth Development Team
Night Hoops Basketball Tournaments
Night Hoops started back in 2004 due to a group of boys keen to
play Basketball locally.
A trip was organised to go and see London Towers at Crystal
Palace. On the way down it was discovered that there was only one
club in Maidstone that facilitated for Basketball and the boys
found it difficult to travel there for practice, so they ended up
not playing. It was then that the Sports and Play Development Team
started to organise Night Hoops, so that groups of friends come and
play Basketball on a Sunday evening to have fun and practice their
skills.
Since 2004, Night Hoops has grown dramatically with over 8 teams
attending each month, and over 100 players and spectators coming to
enjoy the atmosphere. Hip Hop and R&B music is played all
night as well as visiting cheerleaders and Urban Dancers coming
down from the local Dance Schools to perform throughout the
evening. Due to Night Hoops, another Basketball Club has developed
within Maidstone, and the boys from the bus are now able to play
weekly and in regional tournaments in the sport they love,
Basketball!
Night Hoops is Back!
The Sports, Play and Youth Development Team
have been working with Maidstone Leisure Centre to redevelop Night
Hoops.
We are looking to hold Night Hoops coaching
sessions on a Wednesday evening in the near future (March
2009) where you can develop and practise yours skills before
having a massive tournament at the end of each month with medals
for the winning team.
Currently Night Hoops take place once a month from 7pm - 10pm on
Sunday evenings.
Sunday 15th February 2009
A music system
will be available on the Night so bring lots of CD’s!
