Home Repairs Grant

Grants for repairs

 

Discretionary grants of up to £10,000 are available for owner occupiers.

 

Financial eligibility

 

·                The occupier(s) must be in receipt of a means tested benefit or,

 

·                The occupier(s) main source of income must be their state retirement pension and have less than £16,000 in savings.

 

Work eligibility

 

·                The property must require repairs or improvements to make it free from serious hazards or to make it decent.

 

Examples of these types of problems might be to repair or renew a leaking roof, sort out serious dampness problems, or to renew dangerous wiring.

 

Occupation eligibility

 

·                The occupier(s) must have lived in the property for at least 3 years.

 

·                The property must be their sole residence.

 

·                The property must be over 10 years old.

 

Conditions

 

These grants are offered on a discretionary basis and are subject to sufficient funds being available.

 

50% of the grant is repayable on sale of the property. The grant will be registered as a local land charge.
