Community Safety

Safer Maidstone Partnership

Mission Statement for 2005-2008

“The Safer Maidstone Partnership will continue to work to create a safe environment for everyone in the borough through a commitment to reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour. We will also strive to reduce the fear of crime by reassuring and strengthening communities.”

About Us

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 requires public bodies to work together in reducing crime and disorder through forming partnerships, devising strategies for crime reduction and action plans to ensure effective delivery.

The Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership in Maidstone is the 'Safer Maidstone Partnership.  The idea behind multi-agency working is that together we can do more than we can alone.

The Partnership meets regularly both as a whole group and through its 4 sub-groups, see 'Structure of the Partnership'. SMP's role is largely defined through the Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy, this involves;

  • Monitoring progress against the Strategy
  • Ensuring that all relevant agencies are involved in projects
  • Managing partnership funding
  • Taking decisions on multi-agency crime reduction initiatives

The 2007 - 2008 Action Plan

This is the third year of the 2005-2008 Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy.  The Reduction Action Plan has been produced to show what targets have been set to reduce crime and disorder and give information on the progress against those targets.
