Funding Advice
Top Funding Tips
1. Always read the guidance notes and application form. Many
applications fail due to this basic error.
2. Make contact if possible with the grant awarding body to
check that your project fits their criteria.
3. If you are unable to apply it does not preclude your
community benefiting from the grant, influence an eligible group
within your community to apply.
4. Do not start work on your project until funding has been
granted no retrospective funding awarded.
5. Look at the funding bodies priorities some have regional
priorities and make sure your scheme encompasses those and you
mention that in your application.
Grantfinder
Grantfinder is much more than just a database. Since 1985, it
has been the leading source in the UK of accurate and comprehensive
information on the full range of UK and EU financial support
provision including grants, subsidies, loans, venture funding
and other incentives, available to all types of business, from the
sole trader to the multinational company; to voluntary and
community groups; to charities and charitable arms; to each and
every aspect and every level of the public sector.
Maidstone Borough Council pays for full access to this database
and can undertake funding searches and produce reports for local
community groups at no cost. It can save hours wading through huge
funding directories at the local library!
By filling in the Grantfinder search form and
returning it to us by email we can search the Grantfinder database
for potential funding sources for your project.
