Licence - storage of petroleum
Maidstone Borough Council does not provide storage of petroleum
licences.
You can get this licence from Kent Trading Standards.
Do you need a petroleum licence?
If you store more than 15 litres of petroleum spirit (petrol)
you will almost certainly need a licence. There are one or two
exceptions to this rule. These relate to storage for use in motor
vehicles or other internal combustion engines - contact
Kent Trading
Standards for more details.
If you think you need a petroleum licence please contact your
local area
office and speak to a petroleum officer who will be able to
advise you.
Changes to existing licences
If you already have a petroleum storage licence which you would
like to modify, or if you want to transfer the licence to another
person please contact Kent Trading
Standards.
Existing licence renewals
Renewal reminders are sent out 2-3 weeks before the expiry of
your existing licence.
The fees are set by the Health & Safety Executive and are
reviewed annually in April. Please contact Kent Trading
Standards if you have any queries regarding your renewal.
EU Services Directive
Petroleum licences are covered by the
EU Services Directive and available to complete
online.
