Licence - skip operators
Maidstone Borough Council does not provide skip operators
licences.
You can get this licence from Kent Highways Services.
e-Skips online permit applications
e-Skips provides an online application system for skip permits.
It allows real time data exchange between Skip Operators and Kent
Highway Services, thereby helping to make both parties work more
efficiently.
The system automatically provides data to the Elgin (Electronic
Local Government Information Network) website which is available to
the public to check whether or not the skip on their road has had a
permit applied for etc.
A permit is required for any skip placed on the highway. The
skips must conform to a given specification and can be removed if
they are placed without a licence.
e-Skips will also allow the skip companies, once registered, to
manage their permits and finances with more ease. Permits can
either be paid for at the time or added to a monthly statement –
which can then be paid of fully or in parts at any time during the
month. The clear operating system will also make it easier to see
when permits are due to expire, and to renew them in real time so
that the skip remains licensed on the public highway.
Ideally 5 working days should be allowed for processing of
permits.
