Licence - poisons
Maidstone Borough Council does not provide poisons licences.
You can get this licence from Kent Trading Standards.
The sale of poisons is prohibited unless the seller is a retail
pharmacist or a listed seller (that is a person whose name appears
on the local authority's list entitling him/her to sell poisons
from the premises named).
Listed sellers cannot sell poisons which are included in Part 1
of the Poisons List which contains substances such as arsenic and
cyanide. These may only be sold by a pharmacist.
A listed seller, or named deputy, is authorised to sell the
poisons named in Part
II of the Poisons List subject to certain conditions. A
fee is
payable for the initial registration, renewal of the registration
each year or for a change in details of a registration.
Each listed seller must keep a Poisons Book in which certain
information relating to each sale of a poison must be entered
before delivery to the purchaser.
