Licence - game dealing
Maidstone Borough Council does not provide game dealing
licences.
The Regulatory Reform (Game) Order 2007 which came into force on
1 August 2007, amended the Game Act 1831 and the Game Licences Act
1860.
The new order removed the requirement for game dealers to be
licensed to sell game.
It also removed the following restrictions:
- The restriction on dealing in game birds and venison during the
close season. This means that any person will be allowed to sell
game and venison all year round provided the animals in question
were only killed in the open season
- The requirement for a licence to kill or take game
Game dealers and retailers must source game and venison from
reputable sources and must keep traceability records as required by
EU Regulation 178/2002.
