Licence - explosives
Maidstone Borough Council does not provide explosives
licences.
You can get this licence from Kent Trading Standards.
Explosives must not be stored unless you are licensed or
registered with the local authority. You will need to be registered
or licensed if you sell or store any of the following:
- Fireworks
- Small arms cartridges
- Cartridges for vehicle air-bags
- Cartridges for nail guns
- Flares and smoke signals
If your premises are in Kent, you can either contact Kent
Trading Standards by email or letter or phone your
area
office to talk to an explosives officer or request an
application form.
Licence/registration renewals
Renewal reminders are sent out 2-3 weeks before the expiry of
your existing licence or registration. Renewals can be made by post
using the renewal form which will be sent to you at that time.
The fees are set
by the Health & Safety Executive and are reviewed annually in
April. Please contact Kent Trading

Storage of explosives at quarries and mines
