Health and medical advice

West Kent Primary Care Trust has the
overall responsibility for ensuring that the people of Maidstone
have access to the health care they need.
At Maidstone Borough Council we work to
keep people healthy. We help to ensure people are living in
healthy environments and offer advice and information on health,
wellbeing and activities that you can be involved in.
The council works closely with the NHS to deliver activities to
help you get, or stay, healthy.

The walks are short, usually
last between half an hour and an hour, take place in Maidstone and
are designed to follow easily accessible routes without steep hills
or tricky terrains. Depending on your ability, you can choose
whether to set off at a brisk pace to work the muscles or amble
along more slowly admiring the views. With a walk leader at

Maidstone's
Health Profile, which gives a picture of health in this
area. It is designed to help local government and health services
improve people’s health and reduce health inequalities.
The Local Government and Public Involvement in
Health Act 2007 requires PCTs and local authorities to produce a
Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) of the health and wellbeing
of their local community.
The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment this guidance,
which complements the statutory guidance Creating Strong, Safe and
Prosperous Communities, provides tools for local partners
undertaking JSNA.
Local Involvement Networks (LINks) are made up of individuals
and community groups, such as faith groups and residents'
associations, working together to improve health and social care
services.
