Educational maintenance award
The Student Awards Group provides help for people who want to
enrol on a college course but would find the cost or
travel difficult.
If you are a 16 to 19 year old planning further study, or are
already enrolled on a Further Education course, you may be entitled
to assistance.
Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
EMA is a weekly payment of £10, £20 or £30 depending on your
household income. The money is intended to help with the day-to-day
costs when you stay on at school or college - such as travel, books
and equipment for your course. You can find out more about

Home to college transport
You may be able to apply for travel assistance from Kent County
Council to help you travel to and from your local college. Visit

Free school meals
If you are under 19 and in full-time education, you may be
entitled to free school meals. Visit the

College Learner Support Funds
If you require money for books/equipment/field trips etc., then
you must apply direct to the college where you intend to study and
ask them what funding you could receive from their College Learner
Support Funds.
Hugh and Montague Leney (Travelling) Awards Trust
Pupils who are over the age of 16 and are attending schools in
Kent, Medway, Bexley or Bromley or have left such a school within
the previous 12 months can apply for a travelling award
from the
Hugh and Montague Leney (Travelling) Awards Trust.
