Civil emergencies - emergency
Emergency plan
The Emergency Plan exists to support services during a major
incident which poses a threat to the community.
The Emergency Planning Service is responsible for
co-ordinating our response to all emergency and civil
contingency matters in Kent.
Our Emergency Planning Officer ensures an Emergency
Centre is maintained in a state of readiness at all times and
prepares, maintains and validates the Council's disaster recovery,
business continuity and other plans.
During an emergency we:
- As a Category 1 Responder, fulfull the Council's duties as
defined in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004
- Provide an efficient response to support the Emergency Services
and partners in the case of an emergency,
- Provide for the immediate needs of those affected and implement
a recovery plan to help return to normality as quickly as
possible
- Keep the Chief Executive and relevant officers informed of all
developments in emergency planning and ensure the Emergency
Planning and Response Team is aware of, and trained in, their
responsibilities in an emergency
- Give talks to and attend meetings held in the city on all
subjects relating to emergency planning
- Liaise with all agencies who may be involved in an emergency
situation
- Promote and run training in emergency procedures in line with
the policy and guidelines set by the Chief Executive and County
Emergency Planning Officer
