Maidstone Cemetery

The main cemetery is situated off Sutton Road.  To get there follow the A274 away from Maidstone and the cemetery is sign-posted as you approach Shepway. The postcode for the cemetery is ME15 9AF.

There is a main vehicle entrance on Sutton Road and two pedestrian entrances - Mangravet Avenue and Pheasant Lane.

The Administrative Office for the Cemetery is located at:

Vinters Park Crematorium,

Bearsted Road,

Maidstone,

KENT,

ME14 5LG

Please note: Our chapel at the cemetery is awaiting extensive repair works and is currently not in use, and so you would have the service either at church or other location of your choice before proceeding to the cemetery. Some services are conducted entirely at the graveside.

Graves available

Choice of Grave

Graves can be selected by the family depending on the time available and the type of grave required; lawn graves are usually allocated by us.

Types of Graves Available

There are three choices of grave available at Maidstone Cemetery.

  • Lawn graves are for people wanting just a headstone memorial.
  • General graves are for people wanting larger memorials.
  • Cremated Remains plots are for people wanting to inter cremated remains and have a memorial on the plot (this option is not available at Vinters Park Crematorium)

Flowers and Wreaths

Floral Tributes can be left at the graveside and will be arranged on and around the grave after the burial is completed. The cemetery staff will remove the tributes after a while depending on their condition.

Memorials

There are several memorial masons in and around the Maidstone area. Details can be found in local telephone directories or on the internet. The council cannot recommend individual companies but would advise that a mason backed by the National Association of Memorial Masons (NAMM) is used as all memorials need to be fixed to NAMM standards or similar. The council does not supply memorials.

Opening times

The cemetery is open to visitors every day of the year as follows:

Open 10am daily all year

April - September Main Gate closes at 8pm

October Main Gate closes at 5.30pm

November - January Main Gate closes at 4pm

February - March Main Gate closes at 5.30pm

When do the funerals take place?

Funerals take place Mondays to Fridays between 10am and 2.30pm.

Funeral Directors

A funeral director can be chosen in a number of ways. He may be known by you or recommended by friends, a family doctor or clergy. Most funeral directors also advertise in the local press, church magazines, phone book and on the internet.
