Summary of Maidstone Borough Council Revenue Budget (March
2013).
The amount you pay depends on which band your property it
falls into, the number of people aged 18 or over who live
there and in some cases the individual circumstances of the people
who live there.
There may also be an additional charge if you live in one of the
parishes that form part of the Maidstone area, if the Parish
Council has decided that an additional amount is required to meet
additional expenditure by the Parish.
The council also receives money in the way of grants from
Government, from Business (or Non-Domestic) Rates and for charges
for a range of services offered by the council. Income from these
sources is not enough to meet the total cost of providing services
and the difference is made up by the council tax charges paid by
local residents.
