Housing benefit - backdated claims

If you make a late claim for Housing Benefit, we may be able to pay your benefit from an earlier date.

We can only backdate your benefit if you give a continuous good reason for making a late claim. Each case is dealt with individually. 

How to apply for a backdated claim

When you complete an application from for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit, you will need to tell us the reason/s why you did not claim earlier, and send any proof that you have to support this claim with your application.

Make a new benefit claim

You can make a new claim by completing the application form, calling 01622 602557 or visiting the Maidstone Gateway in King Street.
