You could be entitled to benefits to help you pay your rent and/or Council Tax bill.

Housing Benefit

You may get Housing Benefit if you pay rent and your income, savings and investments are below a certain level.

To find out how much Housing Benefit you could be entitled to you will need to complete the Room Calculator and then check that result against the Local Housing Allowance page. You will need this information in order to complete the Benefits Calculator.

Once the Benefits Calculator has worked out how much Housing Benefit you may be entitled to, you can make a new claim.

Council Tax Benefit

You may get Council Tax Benefit if you pay Council Tax and your income, savings and investments are below a certain level. You may apply if you rent or own your home.

To find out how much Council tax benefit you could be entitled to fill in the Benefits Calculator.

Once the Benefits Calculator has worked out how much Council Tax Benefit you may be entitled to, you can make a new claim

Make a new claim

You can make a new claim by completing the application form, calling 01622 602557 or visiting the Maidstone Gateway in King Street.

Changes in circumstances

You need to tell us if there are any changes in your circumstances. This includes changes to your income, who lives at the property and any savings you have. For more information visit our changes in circumstances page.

Cancelling a claim

If you would like to stop claiming benefit please email benefits@maidstone.gov.uk, call 01622 602557 or visiting the Maidstone Gateway in King Street.
